The Super Dot Chaser II is the sequel to Retroactive's first flagship design - The Dot Chaser. This Dual Tape Warble Emulator has undergone a few notable upgrades from the previous version.

- 9vDC Center Positive OR Center Negative reverse polarity protection circuitry

- Added headroom for more input signal before clipping, generally cleaner overall

- More warble on tap with more dynamic range from the Warp pots

- Two individual Dot Chaser circuits with separate outputs

- Buffered bypass which allows SDCII to be used as a utility splitter when in bypass mode

Controls:

Warp 1 and 2 - Individual modulation controls

Lag 1 and 2 - Individual delay repeat controls

Mix - Dual Gang shared pot controls wet/dry mix of both circuits simultaneously

Vol - Dual Gang shared pot controls master volume of both circuits simultaneously

Suggested Pairings:

This pedal was specifically designed to be used with two amps, or going into multiple channels of an interface and panning each output Left and Right for a stereo spread. Using two amps, and setting each pedal with different delay and warble times creates sonic space that makes your rig sound really huge.

Any pedal placed before it will go to both outputs, but where you can get creative is putting different circuits in different paths of each output and making each amp sound completely unique from each other. Using tremolo on one output, but phasing or flanging on the other output creates even more movement when you combine that with the onboard modulation and delay from each side of the SDCII. The SDCII last in the chain would be a great place to split into two amps, but if you have the space for it, adding any combination of pedals after it is where this pedal really shines, and where you can completely define your sound.

No need for two Dot Chasers at the moment? Use any output of the pedal by itself and you have the same functionality as the original, but with more Warble on tap and more headroom from the upgrades mentioned above.

From The Builder:
My name is Trey, I currently live in and operate out of New Orleans, LA.

I do a bit of professional touring as a Lighting Designer, and Backline Tech, but during covid I made a pivot and took coding courses in data analytics, hoping to one day transfer those skills into dsp audio/instrument design which i am currently pursuing.

I primarily play drums, but I love guitar as well, and gear in general, which lead me to building pedals. You can find some of my American Primitive Ambient inspired finger-style songs on streaming platforms under FJ Bourgeois.

I've been exploring with pedals for a while now, building out of necessity for my own board like many others have. I love experimenting with parts to get something as unique as possible. I design everything myself from conception to the final product, as well as breadboarding, testing, assembling, and packaging everything by hand.

I put tons of hours into this because I love it, and I love being a part of the community. I strive to build as good of a product as I can with a uniqueness that is my own and speaks of my experiences.
