The Yeti is the Monkey Riot Pedals interpretation of the Nobels ODR-B Bass overdrive. Features an active 3 band equalizer tuned for bass along with an independent volume control of the dry signal. The Yeti allows for a wide range of bass tones from subtle tube warmth to full on fat fuzz. Low drive settings yield a tube like tone, reminiscent of an Ampeg SVT or B-15.

The DRY control takes a split after the input buffer and sends it to an output summing amp where it is mixed with the processed signal. Having independent level control of processed and unprocessed signal allows for full parallel mixing - an immensely powerful and flexible technique. This is not a Mix or Blend control that may change your output level or alter your tone.

The Yeti will operate at 9 volts or 18 volts. Higher operating voltages offer more headroom and maintains signal fidelity with extreme eq boosts. An OP275 Op Amp is used for the equalizer section, adding clarity and definition over the more common JRC4558 Op Amp used in the original.

Controls:
Volume: Master output level
Drive: Dial in from mild tube color to gritty distortion
Bass: Boosts or Cuts Low Frequencies - Shelf @ 120Hz
Mids: Boosts or Cuts Midrange Frequencies - Bell @ 300 Hz
Treble: Boosts or Cuts High Frequencies - Bell @ 2.7 kHz
Dry: Sends dry signal to the output for punch and clarity

Features:
Housed in a polished aluminum 1590BB2 enclosure
Top-mounted jacks for pedalboard-friendly layouts
True bypass switching for pure signal integrity
Requires 9V or 18V center-negative power supply (no battery option)

Monkey Riot Pedals

I’m Mike Purcell, and I build pedals because I love putting something into the world that people can use to spark their own creativity. My goal with each design is to deliver a sound that sparks ideas - where you plug in and immediately start playing something you didn’t expect.

Monkey Riot is a one-person DIY operation through and through. I design the circuits and PCB layouts, make the art, and assemble each pedal by hand here in-house. The exception is the silkscreening which I hand off to another local builder.

I strive to make pedals that are flexible and musical with a wide range of tones - but without sacrificing the sound quality I’m chasing. And while I’m inspired by historical pedal circuits, I’m not interested in rehashing the classics. I want to make circuits that feel unique, have some novelty, and get you excited to play.

Thanks for checking out my pedals - it means a lot. If you’ve got questions or want to talk about gear, I’m around.
