The Backseat Driver pairs a classic compression circuit with a single transistor overdrive. Voice and Jangle Switches open up a range of options for tone shaping. Ranging from a medium overdrive up to near fuzz, the compression part of the circuit adds some life not found in other straight-up overdrives. Sounds great with humbuckers or single coils. The Backseat Driver is based upon the Multivox Big Jam SE-13 Space Driver, a pedal sold in the late 70's.
CONTROLS
Volume: Output Level
Sustain: Amount of compression. Increasing Sustain also raises the output level, resulting in more overdrive.
Drive: Amount of Distortion. (Gain 'Window' can be adjusted via internal trimmer.)
Jangle Switch: In the UP position, adds brightness. Makes it easy to get a single coil type sound with humbucker pickups
Voice Switch:
"MODERN" - Up Position - Louder and more open sounding.
"VINTAGE" - Down Position - More compressed with less top end. More distorted.
INTERNAL ADJUSTMENTS
Internal trimmer allows for adjustment of minimum distortion amount (Gain 'Window'), giving a wide range of drive available. A second internal trimmer adjusts the max output level. A third input trimmer allows the release time of the compressor to be adjusted if slower or faster response is desired. Trimmers are set internally when shipping to an optimum level for maximum flexibility - there's no need to crack open the pedal and twist trimmers unless you're the fiddly type.
Internal DIP Switch can be set to half wave envelope detection (resulting in less compression.) All units ship set to full wave envelope detection.

USE ONLY center negative 9v DC 2.1mm Power Supply (Boss Style) - No battery option.
