I started with the classic harmonic percolator circuit (but don't call it a percolator - that's trademarked, as I recently found out!) and enhanced it with additional controls enabling users to dial in the character of the original and experience the unique harmonics and feel of Arabica. It’s voiced to stand on its own and be fun to play. I added a clipping diode selector to choose from either silicon clipping or transistor clipping (bypass). This gives you options for warm, hairy, and compressed distortion that can be dialed down for a clean sound, and up for the classic percolator sound. I also added a JFET boost section (LOUD) at the end to compensate for the natural volume loss from using germanium diodes. The bypass is big and loud - it sounds great pushing other pedals. As for settings, I typically like to crank everything up and leave it, but there are a few other starting points noted in the manual. The character of Arabica can change based on the type of pickups/guitar being used. I personally think Telecasters and P-90s shine. If none of this make sense - it's a great sounding fuzz-adjacent pedal lots of clang potential. Tone - This is a unique part of Arabica, as the original pedal (and other pedals based on it) generally don't have the ability to EQ. This control has been voiced to enhance high end and shift to low and warm. Space - A psuedo presence control. This is a subtle effect that provides a bit of "air" and clarity in the sound as the dial is turned clockwise. Push - Adjusts the drive hitting the silicon transistors and mix of germanium/silicon clipping diodes for a range of distortion and rich harmonics. Roll it back to let your instrument signal shine though. Clipping Switch - Select between silicon clipping and transistor clipping, which bypasses the clipping diodes Loud - Overall pedal volume Other Info: Bypass: True Bypass Power: 9V DC, 2.1 mm enter negative barrel (Boss Style). Current draw is <5 MA. Our pedals do not accept batteries. Size: 125B Enclosure
