🔥 One-Off Alert!
Jason at QuirkFX only makes one of each pedal — ever. This is the only Great Wave in existence, and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good....
The Great Wave - Wall of Fuzz, optimized for bass but equally destructive on guitar.
Less finicky than a Fuzz Factory, more flexible than a Fuzz Face, more present than a Big Muff. A roaring tsunami of overwhelming fuzz based on the Megalith by Mountainking. I’m really more of a bass player, so I’m always looking for circuits that are optimized for bass, or at least bass friendly. And this one sounds great on my bass. But it sounds equally great on guitar. And not just doomy and sludgy (tho that’s certainly possible), this has a nice range and is highly adjustable. Certainly on my bass I find this more versatile and usable than many of the Fuzz Faces, Muffs, and Fuzz Factory clones I’ve built.. On guitar I think you’ll find it takes the place of at least one of those.
When the MORE footswitch is engaged a booster stage is added to the output of the circuit.
The MORE HEAVY knob raises the gain of the booster, which increases the overall output, adds low end and intensifies the clipping.
INPUT controls the strength of the signal going into the pedal. Turning the knob to the right pushes the circuit into increasing degrees of clipping. It also has an effect on output level.
SHIFT changes the cut-off frequency of the NOTCH control, which shapes midrange.
SLOPE allows you to adjust the high/low frequency balance.
The SLOPE, NOTCH and SHIFT controls are very interactive with one another and adjust the parameters of the filter section, which shapes the tone of the pedal.
Hope you enjoy this raging tempest of fuzz!

From The Builder:
A middle school teacher with a workshop in my basement, spraying things in the garage when weather allows. My daughter taught me to solder in 2019 (after being in robotics club in high school....NERD!), and I've been building pedals ever since. The circuits are based on existing pedals (I'm always up front about which), but it's the finishing that's quirky, with unique (occasionally odd) designs. Minor imperfections are par for the course and part of the charm.
Each design is one-of-a-kind, which means NO ONE ELSE will ever have this pedal but you. Hope you enjoy!
