Monocle
Monocle
by Droning Brightness
The Monocle is an original design based on a simple mosfet boost. Monocle is instead 2 mosfet boosts stacked and biased for intense overdriven amp sounds that sizzle, fuzz and fizz. The single control acts as an attenuator between amplification stages. The switch is a super mellow high frequency roll off to tame some of the harshness.
I'm super proud of this circuit as it produces some of the exact kind of gnarly overdrive I had been searching for. The single control ranges from fizzy articulate boost all the way to compressed, pumping fuzz, and amp-like overdrive. I will definitely be making more of this one and probably expanding the circuit to include a detailed tone control section.
Monocle is part of a series of pedals that explore classic fuzz/drive circuit topology as well as experimentation with engraved wooden top panels. Each build will have a unique, one of a kind top panel design.
9v dc center negative power operation.

From The Builder:
Droning Brightness is the chosen moniker for all current artistic and creative endeavors created by me, Keith. I lean heavily on the DIY ethos when designing and building pedals, particularly when it comes to enclosure graphics and aesthetics. In a sense, pedal building has become an arts practice for me, and the process is very fulfilling and rewarding. My goal is to continue circuit exploration for unique, gnarly fuzzes, quirky and unorthodox effect combinations, and experiment with new ways to embellish enclosures.
