🔥 One-Off Alert!

Jason at QuirkFX only makes one of each pedal — ever. This is the ONLY NEVERMORE in existence, and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

A Reverb as simple as Death, as expansive as Eternity.

Not modeled off of a specifc commercially-produced pedal. Rather, this is a unique take on a BTDR “Belton Brick” based Reverb.
Lots of pedals build on this platform, as it’s a simple yet effective alternative to the springs, tanks, plates and oil cans (?!) that reverbs usually depend on. In 2007, Brian Neunaber (of Neunaber pedal fame) patented spring-reverb-in-a-module, known widely as the “Belton Brick.” Solder a few parts to it and you have a reverb that rivals the sound you get from a electromechanical spring reverb tank in a Fender amp. The Belton Brick is not the module’s real name. It’s the Accu-Bell BTDR Digi-log, and it’s in basically EVERY reverb pedal from the last 15 years.

And that’s cuz it works! Yes, it’s digital so some purists might get their undies in a bunch. But to my ears it sounds great, and having it pedal-sized is much more convenient than a big spring tank or rack unit (check out what an actual plate reverb looks like….).

So there are dozens of pedals out there (I’ve built a dozen myself) covering similar ground ((Earthquaker Levitation and Ghost Echo, J.Rocket Boing,) ‘cuz the Belton Brick is at the heart of them all. This version is easy to use, can go from subtle to spacy, and the Mix control is essential (especially on bass, where I find most reverbs get a bit muddy).

Controls
Use a standard 9V power supply, Center negative
Mix - Controls the blend between your clean signal and the effect/reverb. To the left will be mostly clean signal. Fully to the right and the effect will be louder than the clean.
Space - the reverb itself, how big it is. To the left is subtle, to the right gets more expansive.
Tone - Controls the tone of the effected/reverb signal only (that is, it doesn’t change the tone/eq of your clean signal). At noon, the reverb should match your clean signal. To the left the reverb is warmer (more bass/low mids) and to the right is brighter (more treble).
*By using the internal trimmer you can adjust the amount of feedback to obtain self oscillating reverb sounds. i’ve got this set to a pretty good place, so there should be no need to mess with it. But it’s there if you want to play and tweak. *

For the design, I’ve always been a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, and a huge fan of the art of
Gustav Dore (I’ve used several Dore prints as pedal designs). So when I found that Dore had illustrated the entirety of “The Raven” I knew I had to use part of it for a pedal. The Atmosphere of space/infinity, the timelessness of death/eternity. Perfect for a reverb that can go from simple/subtle to expansive/eternal.

From The Builder:
A middle school teacher with a workshop in my basement, spraying things in the garage when weather allows. My daughter taught me to solder in 2019 (after being in robotics club in high school....NERD!), and I've been building pedals ever since. The circuits are based on existing pedals (I'm always up front about which), but it's the finishing that's quirky, with unique (occasionally odd) designs. Minor imperfections are par for the course and part of the charm.

Each design is one-of-a-kind, which means NO ONE ELSE will ever have this pedal but you. Hope you enjoy!
